Our in-office Dental Laboratory is owned and operated by brothers Ken and Lee Scullin, second generation certified technicians with over 30 years experience. Both Ken and Lee started their careers working as laboratory support for a cutting edge dental practice in downtown Cleveland. In 1993 they formed the Scullin Dental Laboratory and built a state-of-the-art facility in Westlake.

Ken has studied with the best technicians in the world to learn about tooth shape, how teeth work in function and the intricacies of sculpting with porcelain. Creating lifelike ceramic restorations involves  knowledge of complex blend of color, translucency, shape and function. Ken has spent his professional career perfecting that blend.

Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cleveland State University and has studied at the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study. He lectures both locally and nationally on case planning and dental implants.

Ken and Lee are both Certified Dental Technicians. The CDT designation is awarded by the National Association of Dental Laboratories to technicians who have a length of experience in the field and who have passed a rigorous series of written and practical examinations.  Their Certification requires that they complete at least 12 hours of continuing education per year, but they routinely take 50 to 75 hours of CE annually as their way to stay in the forefront of their field.

They are proud to have both attended the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, one of the world’s premier sources of continuing education for dentists and technicians.

The original Scullin Dental Laboratory was started by their father, Joseph V. Scullin and his brother Brendan in the late 1930’s. It was located in the Rose Building in downtown Cleveland for over 30 years. Their laboratory’s reputation for excellence has lasted well beyond their retirement. This new Scullin Dental Laboratory is a continuation of their heritage of quality and integrity in dentistry.
